Our Story
A significant advancement in our digital offering, designed to enhance the University experience.
The UniLincoln app will launch in September 2024. It is a significant advancement in our digital offering, designed to enhance the University experience for our students by providing a modern, user-friendly interface bringing together essential tools like a student’s timetable and attendance registration.
It has been designed and developed in-house with the support of a senior lecturer in graphic design who also has expertise in app development.
Students are at the heart of this development. From the initial stages of understanding the challenges faced to selecting the design and name to ensure it truly addresses their needs and preferences. The app has undergone extensive testing, with over 350 students participating in the early access phase. The feedback from the three months of testing was overwhelmingly positive, and we are confident that the UniLincoln app will be a valuable companion to our students’ academic journey.
The app is available on mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop devices and is set to replace the current student Gateway this September. Students will be directed to the app through the enrolment and re-enrolment process.
The UniLincoln app has a staff view in development. This will be completed by the end of August. This will mirror the look and feel of the student version, with improved design and organisation of external links. Academic staff will be able to see their timetable, including the attendance registration codes.
“I would use this app on a daily basis and recommend it to my coursemates.”
“Think this is great and it’s much clearer and more engaging than the present gateway”

It is a Progressive Web App (PWA). This is an app that is built using web platform technologies, but that provides a user experience like that of a platform-specific app.
Like a website, a PWA can run on multiple platforms and devices. It can be installed on the device, can operate while offline and in the background, and can integrate with the device and with other installed apps.
The app will work as a website on other devices, like laptops and desktops.
The app includes a feedback feature on the Settings screen where you can rate the app and provide comments.
No, the building access system requires a physical ID card to be scanned. The Digital ID can be used to enter the library, at printers and in venues, such as the Tower bar.

It takes up to 48 hrs from the time you have finished your enrolment to be able to register your attendance. We recommend you finish your enrolment tasks as quickly as possible and in the meantime ask your tutors to mark your attendance.
If it is more than 48 hrs since you completed enrolment and you are unable to see the register attendance button please contact student admin.
If you are an iPhone user and are not able to register your attendance even if you are connected to Eduroam, it will be because of the private relay setting. You will need to turn it off and update a few more settings to establish the connection correctly.
You can find a detailed troubleshooting guide by pressing the ? button next to Test Connection on the Not Connected Screen or by visiting How to Register and Monitor Attendance guide
Your attendance count starts from the day you finish your enrolment. So if you are still not enrolled, don’t worry it won’t impact your overall attendance score for the academic year. We would recommend completing your enrolment tasks as soon as possible.
The app does not force users to use the attendance registration system. Attendance can be captured in an alternative way if required. This message is shown on the Attendance page.

“LOVE the ability to submit your attendance within the app. I also like it that it says “free time” helps to clarify to students that you have no sessions currently.”
